The Tzorbi were a sentient species. At some point, they established a medical laboratory at their homeworld. The Tzorbi eventually became one of the first species to join the Galactic Republic[1] that was founded in 25,053 BBY.[2] Millennia before[1] 3643 BBY,[3] however, they became extinct, with the remains of some of the members of the species eventually becoming fossilized at their homeworld.[1]
Around that year,[3] an individual affiliated with one of the sides in the ongoing struggle between the Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire sent a companion to study the fossils of the Tzorbi. The latter individual collected samples of genetic traces from the aliens' remains and also discovered their ancient laboratory.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Tzorbi were mentioned in a Bionanalysis Crew Skill mission of Star Wars: The Old Republic, a 2011 video game developed by BioWare, though the information regarding the mission's outcome was later removed from the game.[1]

Star Wars: The Old Republic — Bioanalysis Crew Skill mission: "Remembering the Lost"
- ↑ Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia
- ↑ 3.0 3.1 Per the reasoning here, Act I of Star Wars: The Old Republic takes place around 3643 BBY. Since players of The Old Republic can assign their companions on the mission "Remembering the Lost" independently of the main class storyline at any point during the game, the mission, which occurs millennia after the extinction of the Tzorbi, must take place at some point around 3643 BBY.
