"Tuya's goals in the Arena are to bring the public's attention to her healing nanites, to perform additional nanotech experiments using the Arena's equipment, and to one day shut down Medtech for good."
Arena News, on Tuya[1]

Tuya was a Twi'lek Hunter at the Grand Arena on Vespaara. She was smaller than other Hunters and owned the droid T-U8.[2] She was a slicer and bioengineer with a bouncy, chaotic energy. She sometimes wore a blue-and-green outfit. During the Imperial Era, Tuya spent a time in Coronet City, running missions to steal Imperial data. When goons attacked the Grand Arena, intent on causing destruction, Tuya fought back, but was knocked unconscious. After waking up, she tossed a Dyplotid into the stands.[2]

Tuya was a prankster with an anti-authority, punk attitude. Formerly employed as a bioengineer at Medtech Industries, she developed a Nanite Launcher prototype with potential to heal or harm. When she realized her research was being used for harmful purposes by Medtech, she stole back her prototype and abandoned the company. Her commitment to helping the downtrodden and vulnerable brought her into conflict with fellow Hunter Skora, whose avant-garde approach to medicine clashed with her values. Nevertheless, Tuya was friends with Zaina and Rieve in the Arena.[3]

Tuya used her Nanite Launcher in the Arena to support her allies and combat enemy Hunters. T-U8 rounded out her skill set by allowing Tuya to launch herself using a grapple attached to the droid and by healing her and her allies.[3]

Behind the scenes

Tuya first appeared in the middle-grade novel Hunters: Battle for the Arena,[2] which was authored by Mark Oshiro and published by Disney–Lucasfilm Press on March 7, 2023.[4] The Twi'lek later received a visual depiction following her introduction to the video game Star Wars: Hunters as one of the playable characters during the final update on April 15, 2025.[5]

In Star Wars: Hunters, Tuya was equipped with her prototype Nanite Launcher, the primary state of which shot arcs of nanite projectiles, but could be modified into a long-range blaster using the Supercharger configuration. Supercharger passively charged, but was activated by player input. Tuya also possessed a Grapple Launch ability, in which she sent T-U8 in a direction before quickly grappling towards the droid. Her other active ability was Stim Spin, in which T-U8 healed all allies and Tuya within a certain radius. Tuya's Ultimate ability was Overdrive, in which she sent pulses of nanites in an area around her, damaging enemies and giving temporary health to allies and Tuya.[3] She is voiced by Rae Lim.[6]
