- "And when old Tuntis tried to fight it off, it killed him. Ripped his arm clean off in its beak and left him bleeding on the floor of his ruined home."
- ―Jerlyn, to Rooper Nitani
A building in Peka village on[2] the Outer Rim[3] world Batuu was the home of Tuntis, a resident of the village.[2] Around 379 BBY,[1] a salmaca—an enormous lizard-like creature—began raiding homes in Peka at night for valuables to line its nest. When the salmaca raided Tuntis's home, he attempted to fight it off, but his home was ruined and he bled to death on his floor after the salmaca tore his arm off with its beak. When Jedi Padawan Rooper Nitani arrived in Peka during her Jedi Trials, Jerlyn, another resident of Peka, told her about Tuntis's death and how his home had been destroyed while explaining the village's problem with the salmaca.[2]
Behind the scenes
Tuntis's home was mentioned in the short story "Shield of the Jedi," written by George Mann and published in the 2023 young-adult anthology The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.[2]

Notes and references
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 "Shield of the Jedi" establishes that Rooper Nitani is around eighteen years old during its events. In The High Republic: Quest for Planet X, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the events of to 382 BBY, Nitani is fifteen years old. Therefore, "Shield of the Jedi" must take place around 379 BBY. As "Shield of the Jedi" establishes that Tuntis's home was destroyed shortly before its events, it must have been destroyed around that year.
