Ton-Falk was a celestial body[4] located in the Ton-Falk system, a part of the Pakuuni sector[1] in the Slice portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] It was situated on the Overic Griplink hyperspace route, which linked it to the Florn and Pakuuni systems.[3]
At some point between 2 BBY[2] and the 0 BBY,[5] the Battle of Ton-Falk of the Galactic Civil War was fought over Ton-Falk. The battle was an embarrassing defeat for the Galactic Empire due to the loss of an entire Imperial Navy battle group to a small number of Rebel Alliance starfighters, and it led to Kuat Drive Yards designing the Ton-Falk-class escort carrier for Imperial use.[4]
Behind the scenes
Ton-Falk's name was introduced via a mention of the Battle of Ton-Falk in Greg Gorden's 1989 Imperial Sourcebook that was published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[6] "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," a 1990 roleplaying game source article published in the thirteenth issue of the Voyages SF magazine, described Ton-Falk as a location. Since that article was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never confirmed.[7]
"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are" placed Ton-Falk in the Heterkus sector.
Stephen J. Sansweet's 1998 Star Wars Encyclopedia subsequently provided the first unambiguously canonical description of Ton-Falk being a location in Star Wars Legends,[8] and the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry placed it on a galactic map in grid square T-5.[2] Ultimately, Stay on Target, a 2014 sourcebook published by Fantasy Flight Games for use with the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion line of Star Wars Roleplaying products, more firmly established Ton-Falk as a distinct celestial body.[4] "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are" also placed Ton-Falk in the Heterkus sector, but the StarWars.com Online Companion to The Essential Atlas overrode that placement by establishing that the Ton-Falk system, and therefore the celestial body, was part of the Pakuuni sector instead.[1]
