- "The Sith then asks, "How would you like to command all the clans? The Empire wishes to build a base here to command this sector of the Outer Rim.""
- ―Rikkar-Du, addressing the Codru-Ji of Munto Codru
The Pakuuni sector was a sector located within the Outer Rim Territories.
History
The Pakuuni sector and its surrounding sectors
The Pakuuni sector saw many important actions during the Galactic Civil War, and was often policed by the Galactic Empire in their efforts to suppress the Rebel Alliance.
In 1 BBY, a large Imperial task force engaged a Rebel fleet above the planet Turkana in the Turkana system, during which the Rebels first deployed the T-65 X-wing starfighter against Imperial forces. Rebel losses were heavy, but the success of the X-wing in routing the Imperials during this engagement prompted the Alliance to mass produce the X-wing as the mainstay all purpose starfighter within their fleet.
In 3 ABY, Imperial forces screened all civilian traffic passing through the sector in an effort to track down Rebel survivors fleeing the aftermath of the Battle of Hoth. During this effort, the Alliance and their allies, the Pakuuni Pirates attempted to remove the Imperial presence by incapacitating their main base operations. This effort failed and the Empire reasserted its control over the contested sector.
