Tifino was an Imperial officer who served under Commander Orson Callan Krennic, Director of Advanced Weapons Research. At the start of his career, he attended the Imperial Academy alongside his friend, Ianna Wick, who helped him progress through the academy. Tifino, however, rose through the ranks much faster, eventually serving in Project Celestial Power of the Imperial Military Department of Advanced Weapons Research. During his service with the department, Tifino's team discovered Kyber crystals on the sacred moon Jedha. These crystals were sought by the project for use in the development of the Death Star, and as a result, Tifino was promoted. During his service, Tifino served aboard a starship.[1]
Tifino and Wick attended the Imperial Ball together, where they were interviewed by HoloNet News reporter Calliope Drouth. Wick and Tifino revealed classified information regarding the Galactic Empire's deployment to Jedha, unbeknownst to Director Krennic, who also attended the Ball. Tifino was shorter than Wick, and had pale skin. At the Ball, Tifino wore an Imperial uniform with a rank insignia plaque.[1]
