"Thraxsos. Useless things."
―Ginntho[1]

Thraxsos were a species of large semi-sentient reptilian carnivores native to the moon Olgothon 3.

Biology and appearance

Thraxsos were large muscular creatures with short legs and long tails, standing about as tall as an average humanoid's shoulder. A frilled shell on their backs offered some protection but their bellies were soft and vulnerable. Their scales were striped violet and green, while their blood was thick and violet.[1]

History

After their natural predators, a species of giant bird, died out, thraxsos roamed free on Olgothon 3, eating anything that moved. Around 20 BBY,[2] Jedi Knights Iskat Akaris and Tualon Yaluna killed two thraxsos in self-defense while on the moon during their mission to recruit the slicer Ginntho. Despite her disinterest in harming innocent animals, Akaris found fighting thraxsos exhilarating, judging the fight a test of her mettle as a Jedi Knight and a way to prove herself to the clone troopers under her command. Meanwhile, Ginntho related some of the creatures' history to the Jedi, while expressing her annoyance at thraxsos in general, given that she had previously lost a serviceable scout droid to them. The next day, Yaluna noted that Akaris only smiled when she was sparring, to which she quipped that she also did so while fighting thraxsos.[1]

Behind the scenes

Thraxos first appeared in Delilah Dawson's novel Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade, which was published on July 18, 2023.[1]

  2. The mission to Olgothon 3 takes place approximately two years after the mission to Thule. As that event takes place a few weeks after the Battle of Geonosis, which Star Wars: Timelines dates as the beginning of the Clone Wars to 22 BBY, the mission to Olgothon 3 must take place around 20 BBY.
