For other uses, see Thorn.

A thornbush was a type of bush with prickly leaves that was found on the Outer Rim planet Palagosal.[1] In 228 BBY,[2] after the Hutt Churo crashed on Palagosal, he saw the Galactic Republic yacht Redemption being pursued by members of the Nihil pirates. Churo attempted to assist the Redemption by firing on the Nihil starships with a laser cannon, but missed and hit the Redemption, causing it to crash. The Hutt then scurried into the cover of thornbushes and covered his eyes, not wanting to watch. Because of his thick sticky skin, the prickly leaves of the thornbushes glanced off of him. Soon after, when the Redemption's crew encountered Churo, the Jedi youngling Kildo scanned the area and noticed Churo's campsite brushing up against thorny bushes and trees.[1]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, thornbushes appeared in the 2024 junior novel The High Republic: Beware the Nameless, written by Zoraida Córdova and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[3] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, a thornbush first appeared in the The Last Command, a 1993 novel written by Timothy Zahn as the final volume of Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy.[4] The spelling thorn bush was then first used in The Crystal Star, a 1994 novel by Vonda N. McIntyre.[5]
