A thermostatic cleaner was a type of cleaning device. When the enslaved human Shmi Skywalker and her son Anakin Skywalker hosted the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, Queen Padmé Amidala, the Gungan Jar Jar Binks, and the astromech droid R2-D2 for a meal at their home in Slave Quarters Row in the city of Mos Espa on the planet Tatooine during a sandstorm[1] in 32 BBY,[2] Shmi had a thermostatic cleaner stored behind a panel on a shelf in her kitchen.[1]

A thermostatic cleaner was first mentioned in the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, which was written by Kristin Lund.[1]
