A thermo-static cleaner was a type of labor-saving[2] cleaning device. The enslaved human Shmi Skywalker owned a thermo-static cleaner and had it stored behind a panel on a shelf in her kitchen when she and her son Anakin Skywalker hosted the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, Queen Padmé Amidala, the Gungan Jar Jar Binks, and the astromech droid R2-D2 for a meal at their home in Slave Quarters Row in the city of Mos Espa on the planet Tatooine during a sandstorm[1] in 32 BBY.[3]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, a thermo-static cleaner was mentioned in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations. It was part of material reprinted[1] from the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, which was written by Kristin Lund and marked the first mention of the device in the Star Wars Legends continuity.[4]
