The Theed Daily News was a news periodical based in the city Theed on the planet Naboo.[1] In 32 BBY,[2] it published an image from the "Liberation Day" Parade that occurred in Theed following the Battle of Naboo. It depicted[1] Governor Sio Bibble[3] holding[1] the Globe of Peace[3] while standing with Senator Sheev Palpatine, Queen Padmé Amidala, the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, and the astromech droid[1] R2-D2.[3] In 35 ABY,[4] the historian Beaumont Kin used the image in[1] his[5] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire and credited the Theed Daily News.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Theed Daily News was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was written by Dr. Chris Kempshall. The book credits the periodical with having included an image[1] that, out-of-universe, is a still from the 1999 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.[6]

- ↑ Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire states that thirty years have passed since the end of the Galactic Civil War and months have passed since the Battle of Exegol. As Star Wars: Timelines dates the end of the war to 5 ABY and the Battle of Exegol to 35 ABY, the in-universe The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire must have been published in 35 ABY.
