Plot summary
During the time of the Galactic Empire, gambler Kinnin Vo-Shay wins a fortune off the ill-tempered Herglic Doune, while playing on the behalf of wide-eyed farmboy Nyo. Nyo aspires to be a Jedi Knight, so Vo-Shay agrees to transport him to the black markets of Nar Shaddaa to buy a lightsaber. A spiteful Doune buys the lightsaber from the dealer first and offers it up as a prize if Vo-Shay will once again play a single hand of sabacc with him. Vo-Shay loses and is forced to hand over a necklace believed to be the source of his incredible luck. Vo-Shay admits to Nyo that the necklace is merely a bauble; he lost the game on purpose to douse Doune's fiery vengeance. Feeling gleeful over his triumph, Doune gives the lightsaber to Nyo anyway.
