The technical support droid, or tech-support droid, was a droid model utilized by the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars to service hyperdrive docking rings.
Details
Tech-support droids were small units engineered to operate in zero gravity. Operating in orbit, the droids monitored the docking procedures of Jedi starfighters like the Eta-2 Actis-class interceptor with Syliure-45 hyperdrive modules. They also ensured the starfighter was properly secured to the ring before departure.[1] The droids were fitted with yellow lights that turned green when the transport ring was correctly oriented, allowing the pilot to depart.[2]
History
When Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi departed Coruscant for Utapau towards the end of the war, two tech-support droids helped orient his transport ring for his hyperspace journey.[2]
