To start im surprised no ones commented on fixer.Fixer is possibly one of the least entertaining commandos I guess :)

  • What are you talking about? Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 00:23, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
    • I think he's talking about the fact that Fixer's attitude is exceedingly formal - always telling Scorch and Sev to stop chatting over the comm, etc. If you listen closely, he doesn't even use informal speech in combat - where Sev would say something like "Another bug for my collection," Fixer says "Enemy neutralized" and so on. Move to Fixer (clone commando)/Legends?

A discussion for moving Fixer's canon page is being heard concurrently at Talk:RC-1140. Based on current policy, if that discussion does not pass but this one does, this page would go to "Fixer (clone commando)" without the /Legends. Another option for the number is IC-1140, his chronologically latest number.

The confusion with Fixer comes from reference books writing him as a "by-the-book" person who does prefer numbers. The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia says "He insisted on calling his squad-mates by their batch designations, rather than the more colorful nicknames they acquired." When it mentions his nickname, the book says he is "Known to the others as Fixer," if that framing impacts your judgement. The Star Wars: Republic Commando: Prima Official Game Guide also says "He insists on calling his squad mates by their batch designations rather than the more colorful nichnames they acquired" and that he is "Known to the others as "Fixer."" From a reference book perspective, Fixer is so by the book he prefers numbers.

The problem comes with narrative material, which does actually show him using names. He refers to Scorch by name in Republic Commando: True Colors while busy, trying to send a message. He refers to Darman by name in Order 66: A Republic Commando Novel while eating with Scorch. Most famously, he uses Boss's name when Sev's signal is lost in the game: "lost his signal, Boss!" By the way, the Ryan Kaufman blog entry linked here on Fixer's Legends page says "I knew the Deltas would never stand for" Boss not having a canonical name, which was why "Boss" became his name in the first place: it was what they called him in-game, so it was made his official name. So perhaps the game did not intend for "lost his signal, Boss" to be using a name, yet, via the power of retcons, that is what it is. That is also Kaufman saying the Deltas would hate the idea of one of their own not having a name and just a number.

Currently, our article says in his personality and traits that Fixer prefers numbers while on missions, which would leave the interpretation that these moments where he's shocked or off-duty he is more causal. That looks to be incorrectly cited to Complete Encyclopedia, and I have seen no other reference book adopt that canon wield. Canon has, so at least for canon its easier lol Unsigned comment by Editoronthewiki (talk • contribs)

Move to Fixer (clone commando)/Legends

EDIT: Please vote at CT Editoronthewiki (talk) 19:39, 28 January 2024 (UTC) #I think that this is a case of narrative material trumping reference. Reference frames Fixer as someone who only uses numbers. Narrative materials shows that he was in fact using his brothers' names. As canon set out for its version of the character, its probably a matter of on-duty vs off-duty. All the same, he is working when he uses Scorch's name in True Colors. So, I think the evidence of his use of names shows he would be someone we should keep at his name as well. Even if often he is so by the book he uses numbers a lot of the time, we have these moments of him using the more personal names. Also, most fans know him as Fixer, not his number, if that is anything :P Editoronthewiki (talk) 22:29, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

Remain at RC-1140/Legends

EDIT: Please vote at CT Editoronthewiki (talk) 19:39, 28 January 2024 (UTC) #Nah, how he calls other people isn't enough justification to move his page to a name if evidence contradicts that as being what he calls himself. Fan26 (Talk) 18:25, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
