Clone and Original
I'm going to split this up, especially since there's enough info on both of them (and with the upcoming Outbound Flight Project novel, the original Jedi Master will have much more. --QuentinGeorge 06:05, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Wait a sec- What?! There's going to be an Outbound Flight Project novel? Well- I'll be damned. I never thought that that would ever show up beyond a few throwaway sentences. Is that a pig up there? But looking at the advance blurbs, it seems a little strange they are throwing in Obi-Wan and Anakin as welll; however, I have confidence in Zahn. --Maru 20:44, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Merging
The original already has an article at Jorus C'baoth; feel free to carry all of the original stuff over there that isn't already covered. --jSarek 06:22, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Birthdate
Um, where is this from? Yrfeloran 01:42, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- As I recall, from Heir to the Empire- Luke's research in the Imperial Palace databanks are reproduced almost exactly in the text of the novel. Of course, Lucas shitted all over their validity with his prequel trilogy, but whatever. --Maru (talk) Contribs 01:18, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- I really don't think the clone's birthdate was in there. Joruus!=Jorus. Thrawn thinks it might be around the time of Jorus's death, but he really has no way of knowing. I have no idea where the 16 BBY figure is coming from and I'd like to remove it. Yrfeloran 01:24, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
The Article
The article looks very spiffy. I commend whomever formatted it. It looks magnificent. One thing though, perhaps more pics. This one captures Joruus's personality: http://www.theforce.net/timetales/tt4-4/DARK2.JPG and perhaps the english version of this: http://www.loresdelsith.net/biblioteca/comics/bin/ultima14.jpg

source of Joruus clone
I remember reading a a part of the recent Outbound Flight novel where C'Baoth speaks of Palpatine requesting blood samples from all members of Outbound Flight. It seems like Zahn put this bit of dialogue into the novel to show how Palpatine was able to clone C'Baoth. Can't remember the page number.--70.179.177.142 23:59, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Duel with the unnamed Dark Jedi
I can see a reason to disbelieve C'Baoth's version of events if we had only his word to go on, but currently the article also mentions that Wayland's natives also recall a battle between him and another Force user who called himself the "Guardian." Possibly because he was, in fact, the Dark Jedi assigned to guard Mount Tantiss, although there are other possibilities of course.
According to the account of the Psadans, the Empire came first to build the storehouse, then after they left this "Guardian" arrived. Some time after that, C'baoth showed up and fought the Guardian.
There's also the fact that C'baoth did a pretty bad job of concealing his mental instability, so I have a hard time believing that Palpatine would have entrusted the storehouse to him (unless he emerged from the cloning tank reasonably sane and deteriorated more and more over the years). If I had to guess, I'd say that C'baoth was cloned by Palpatine, didn't turn out right, eventually went rogue and killed Palpatine's Dark Jedi, this "Guardian", and decided to rule Wayland.
What makes the idea that C'baoth himself was appointed guardian of the storehouse the most likely scenario, as the entry currently says?--HanShotFirst 18:50, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Sabaoth, not exacatly the word you mean.
The (only) word for armies in hebrew is not exactly Sabaoth, more like Tsvaot (a letter often pronounced in hebrew as v is also the letter for b so it's often misstranslated like that). Now, I would edit it myself but i don't know who wrote this and based on what, so I don't know whether it's the actuall base for the name and the person who came up with it got the misstranslated word.
"...explosion of blue dark side energy."
What happened to the whole "Dark Jedi explode" concept? It seems like for a while writers were thinking that that happened to all dark side users, or at least all sufficiently powerful or evil ones. But apparently it's still canon that it happens to some of them? How many known examples are there of the phenomenon? 68.44.13.236 06:04, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- All I can think of are Palpatine and Joruus. But if it's in print, it's canon. I guess no one else has been dark and powerful enough yet. But now that I think of it, something similar happened to Nihilus in KotOR II, even if that cloud was red. Commander Daal

Force Scream
C'baoth was the first character to ever utilize the Force Scream in the Last Command. In no place does the article ever mention this rare ability. Shouldn't it be added? Dawnstrike 21:17, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Images
If anyone is able to upload any images of C'baoth, likely from the Thrawn trilogy comic, I would be really grateful. A Wookiee-cookiee would go to those who can get good images. Thanks. Chack Jadson (Talk) 21:12, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

- The one image you added earlier was good. And one image of High Castle, one of C'baoth yelling at Luke from Dark Force Rising, and maybe one of him sitting in his chair from The Last Command would all be great. If you can't get all those, that's fine. Anyway, thanks. Chack Jadson (Talk) 16:09, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Pronunciation
How do you pronounce C'baoth? The part of the article that has the pronunciation isnt showing it on my computer. It's just showing weird little square things. —Unsigned comment by 72.22.124.129 (talk • contribs)
Guardian
I am wondering why all of the articles about C'both refer to him as the guardian? He is not the guardian acording to Zahn's book which would seem too be most solidly canonical. He destoyed the gaurdian emplaced by Palpatine. Joruus displaced the guardian and took possesion of the mountain, I think it is clear by the shear arrogance of the man he would never allow himself put in a possistion of guardianship. Am I completely off base here? --66.169.255.33 22:57, September 11, 2011 (UTC)
- Only insofar as you are taking as gospel the word of a particularly insane clone. There is no proof that any such guardian existed, and per the RPG, it is speculated that the entire "Guardian" affair is a hallucination of Joruus, who may have always been Palaptine's Mount Tantiss protector. That is why the text for both C'Baoth and his clone remain ambiguous in their wording on this point. DD97Which bear is best? 23:02, September 11, 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, according to page 46 of the new annotated edition of HTTE (chapter 4, note 5):
| Source: Heir to the Empire: The 20th Anniversary Edition | |
|
My original reasoning was just what's laid out here: that whomever Palpatine had left to guard his storehouse had been killed by Joruus C'baoth when he somehow stumbled on the place. To my mild surprise, speculation quickly arose that C'baoth was the original guardian, and it was merely because of his insanity that he thought he'd killed someone and taken his place. Such speculation is wrong, of course. I think… | |
So how it should be presented in the article is debatable. At the very least, the BTS needs a rework from this new edition. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 00:20, September 12, 2011 (UTC)
- Zahn's authorial intent has been undermined multiple times before, is it completely safe to assume his wishes will be honored by the continuity gurus at Lucasfilm? DD97Which bear is best? 04:23, September 12, 2011 (UTC)
New infobox image
Now that we have this very nice, closer headshot of C'baoth thanks to Joe Corroney, I wanted to present it as an option for the infobox. Thoughts? This is for discussion first, before taking it for a vote. - JMAS

New option
- I think this image is much high quality, and with the understanding that the current image would move down to the Powers and Abilities section in place of the current image there. - JMAS

Current image
- I really don't see a difference in quality and the beard in the current image is far superior, as it doesn't cover the entire thing. Further, I'd say we should prefer the more neutral expression of the current image. NaruHina Talk

- The new option is neat, indeed, but the Topps picture was great too. I'm not opposed to using Coroney's depiction as long as we keep the current image somewhere in the article. The Topps picture is also the only depiction of C'Baoth with a lightsaber, which makes it quite notable. --LelalMekha (talk) 23:04, September 30, 2012 (UTC)
- I totally agree the Topps version needs to stay in the article. I would say it should go in the Powers and abilities section, as it does show his lightsaber and him using Force lightning. - JMAS

- I don't like the new picture at all. The beard is far too…I don't know what word to go with. Garish, maybe, but not flashy. More obtrusive. The current picture's beard is much better. Since it's not really a question of better image fidelity, this is going to hinge on aesthetics and the current image is superior in that regard. NaruHina Talk
