Vandalism

Um, you know...I never read the comics, but that one really long paragraph under "origins" seems like vandalism to me.--Commander Mike 03:47, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Key Republic Figures

Any reason why Cay Qel-Droma isn't on this list. He was rather vital in relation to the decisions that Ulic made based on their interactions. Livingston (The Force will be with you. Always.)

  • If you're talking about the list at the bottom, it's because when I wrote the article, I weighed who were the three most important and key figures overall. While Cay was present at several key battles, so where numerous other Jedi. Really, in my opinion, and many many others who I consulted during the writing the of this article, the most important thing to come from Cay was his actual death—which turned Ulic back to the light. Nonetheless, the three Key Republic Figures that are featured at the bottom are the central Republic figures featured predominately throughout the major storyline, and who can be argued had the most impact on the Great Sith War. Ulic because of the role he played in the BWs, the central part he played in the FNU, his fall to the dark side, etc; Nomi because of her battle meditation and the fact that she was constantly called upon by the Jedi to be a leading authority figure; and Arca Jeth because it was his use of the Force which actually ended the BWs, it was his capture that was a central part in the FNU, and his death which drove Ulic to the dark side. Also, since I know it to be coming, the reason that I decided upon only three Key Figures for each side is this: I didn't want a huge swath of the article to be character blurbs on minor figures from the GSW—I made the decision early on that I was going to highlight three central figures from each side who were key to the war effort. Image

I noticed that the main image for this article is actually from the Krath Holy Crusade (The Battle of Kirrek), not the Great Sith War. Mando26 (talk) 23:07, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

You are mistaken.—Tommy 9281 Friday, February 7, 2014, 23:52 UTC
How so? The image is the cover of Tales of the Jedi: Dark Lords of the Sith 2: The Quest for the Sith. The Great Sith War hadn't even started yet and those are cleary Tetan soldiers. Page 7 of that very issue depicts the same battle, which was started because Kirrek was the last planet in the system to resist the Krath. Mando26 (talk) 04:48, February 8, 2014 (UTC)
My mistake. It's actually Koros Major (not Kirrek), and it was right before the Republic/Jedi fleet arrived. But it was still part of the Krath Holy Crusade, not the Great Sith War. Mando26 (talk) 05:07, February 8, 2014 (UTC)

Conflicting sources

The KOTOR series eastablished Freedon Nadd's tomb on Dxun, why does this article overwrite that with what the new essential chronology erroneously archived?--Yashuvoo Sommin (talk) 11:05, June 26, 2015 (UTC)

  • He was first entombed on Onderon, then his remains were moved to Dxun.--Rakhsh (talk) 11:08, June 26, 2015 (UTC)

That source came out sometime after the game was released. His remains were already in the tomb that was created for him prior to the book's release, so how was he entombed there first? I guess he has 2 (one for each planet, which makes no sense).--Yashuvoo Sommin (talk) 11:11, June 26, 2015 (UTC)

  • What? No the source that states that his tomb was moved from Onderon to Dxun came out way before The New Essential Chronology, and Kotor, the events were actually shown in the original Tales of the Jedi comic which predated both. At first his tomb was on Onderon, then when the planets government changed the Jedi on the planet, led by Arca ceremonally (and very respectfully I might add) moved his body to a specially constructed tomb on Dxun. They had a nice parade and everything, it was in the two parter that involved Warb Null I think. It was a pretty substantial event in the ccomic. ralok (talk) 09:51, July 1, 2015 (UTC)
  • Here it is Tales of the Jedi: The Freedon Nadd Uprising 1, that is what you are looking for I think Yashuvoo :) I recommend picking up a copy of the Tales of the Jedi comics they are great fun. ralok (talk) 09:54, July 1, 2015 (UTC)

Ah - thanks for correcting my misunderstanding. Though the artwork of the T.O.T.J series carries a resemblance to comic books made by Marvel and Capcom (architecture wise). I'll get it if I can.--Yashuvoo Sommin (talk) 17:38, July 3, 2015 (UTC)

The source for the Mandalorians calling the Great Sith War the "Great Shadow Crusade".

What's the source for that? Darklordoftech (talk) 21:44, 16 November 2023 (UTC)Darklordoftech

Years

NEC, TEA and CSWE seem to conflict on whether the war includes all the prelude conflicts to it. Should the article say the war started in 4000 BBY? We also define eras with this war which makes it more confusing.

Source: The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia

The Great Sith War encompassed a number of conflicts.

  • The Beast Wars of Onderon: An undercurrent of the dark side sparked civil war between the city dwellers of Iziz and the beast-riders of the wilderness.
  • The Freedon Nadd Uprising: The royalty of Onderon were secretly dark side worshippers who drew power from the spirit of long-dead Sith Lord, Freedon Nadd. Nadd's spirit brought about the rise of Exar Kun and the dark side cult, the Krath.
  • The Sith War: The Empress Teta system was conquered by the Krath, and Exar Kun corrupted a number of Jedi Knights into joining the dark side. Among his followers was Ulic Qel-Droma. Qel-Droma was finally stripped of his powers, and Kun's spirit was trapped within a Massassi temple on Yavin 4.
  • The Great Hunt: The Jedi Order undertook a failed purge of terentateks, creatures from the Sith world of Korriban that fed off the blood of Force-sensitives.
