Nickname

dengar has a nickname doesn't he? its payback. and he appeares in the tales of the bounty hunters.

  • That appearance is listed (his short story, rather than the whole anthology, is listed). If you can find a good place to mention his nickname, feel free. — Silly Dan 01:31, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Payback: The Tale of Dengar where I can find?

Pic

This article could really do with a full colour picture, he looks like a zombie! Freaky dug

  • I would colorize it but that'd go aganist the policy. =/ --Redemption 18:26, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Dengar can partly be seen when luke falls into the rancor pit you can see his arm and his gun and some of his head.BobafettH23 19:08, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Personality and traits

He was a man without emotions. But he felt despair and need for revenge? Which is it? --Jaguartalon 08:54, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

He was without most emotions, save for hopelessness, loneliness, vengeance, hatred, and despair. The Empire thought those would be useful in motivating him to kill targets. My source is "Payback: The Tale of Dengar" from Tales of Bounty Hunters. --X859 02:58, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Dengar

I dont get something.

How come in many books dengar id described as a great bounty hunterand one of the best in the buisness but in the "bounty hunter wars" series he is described as being not very good and incignifigant and a poor bounty hunter. This cannot be the case as before the book was written in episode 5 he was selected by darth Vader to hunt Han Solo and Vader chose only the best bounty hunters in the galaxy.

It doesn't make sense!

  • There's an old joke about two guys who go out in the woods, and one of the guys worries about running into a bear and being able to outrun the bear. "I don't have to run faster than the bear," says the other guy, "I just have to run faster than you." Dengar might not be as good as Boba Fett, but neither are Bossk, Zuckuss or the droids.Tocneppil 06:24, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Also, the Bounty Hunter Wars is one of those series that's had its validity questioned time and time again over the years. There are several ways in which it doesn't properly fit the rest of the universe.

Links

There were at LEAST three Boba Fett links in the article, and at least two Manaroo links. Why is that?--B-Boba Fett! He'll kill us all! 20:40, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Or you could just change them, no need to leave a new message about how there were a few extra links in the article. ''Kal Rayce'' 18:39, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Weapons

The blaster pistol holstered in the pic at the top of the article is most certainly a DL-21. The scope and grip are distinctive, but the muzzle protruding from the holster is the dead giveaway - WWII British two-inch mortar fins. It's the only blaster pistol that looks like this.

I'm a new user. I tried to edit the section, but was unable to do so. If anyone else can/will do it, then by all means... Otherwise, I'll come back to it at a later date.

It is clear that Dengar is holding a modified WWII-era German MG 42 in the main profile photo used for the article (top); this is apparently a production still from filming of the bounty hunters scene of 'The Empire Strikes Back.' However, despite the acknowledgement from some Expanded Universe source (Galaxies Trading Card 'Galactic Hunters' fixed #21 ??) that Dengar's favorite rifle is the Valken-38 blaster rifle, I find nothing that explicitly links the mod'd '42 to the 'Valken.' In other words, I think it's a jump of logic to assume that the MG 42 represents the Valken-38 (in universe), just because that is the weapon he's holding in the movie. In fact, the image associated with the 'Valken' article looks to be the front end of an MG 34, and that is apparently taken from the GTC card on the subject (…the image 'jpg' name shows "Valken-39" ???).

Due to this fuzzy association, I'm going to remove any direct connection between the MG 42 and the "Valken-38" (in BOTH articles) until some further confirmation is provided. The information will remain, it just won't indicate that the mod'd MG 42 is the Valken. --Chachap1 (talk) 06:57, March 22, 2013 (UTC)

Image

It seems historically that we've had trouble finding a good color profile image for this article, for whatever reason. For the longest time we used a black-and-white picture, but JMAS eventually found a superior color picture, which is what we're using now. It may be worth nothing that Star Wars Insider 129 features a color close-up of Dengar on page 31 that might be better suited for a true profile picture. TCW Appearance

Just figured I'd toss up a little sub-header on the talk page. I think the safest thing to assume until we're told more info is just to assume Dengar hasn't had his speeder race against Han yet. Maybe he was already an establish bounty hunter before he swooped against Han, and already had the look. So for minimal impact, listing his TCW appearance as his earliest stuff in his timeline would probably work. But I'm not a wiki expert. Just my idea. -RogueJedi86 03:59, March 3, 2012 (UTC)

I'll add it in his bio. Unsigned comment by 24.57.98.255 (talk • contribs)

Actually we wouldn't even have to assume that this was before the crash because A: Han solo was still a kid during the clone wars,he was only about 8 years old. And B: the empire wasn't around so there was know one to operate on him.

I just did a major edit in his bio regarding the clone wars episode bounty.
