Jet trooper
Jet trooper? Is Denal a clone jet trooper? What about rex? —Unsigned comment by 85.154.161.214 (talk • contribs)
- Denal, along with his squad for this mission, are no more jet troopers then Rex. Simply because you use a jetpack when the situation would require it does not mean that said clone is specifically a jet trooper. I also removed the portion about the possibility of Denal being at Teth because the novelization of the movie expressly states that only six troopers from Torrent Company survived the battle and they are already accounted for by name. (Rex, Coric, Zeer, Del, Attie, and Nax) --Shadowxander 05:14, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- He has to be a clone jet trooper if he uses a jetpack. Rex uses a jetpack, but he can because he's an arc captain(?) and even if he isn't who is?—Unsigned comment by ARC commander3 (talk • contribs)
- Not so, pal. Signing your comment would be appreciated too so I can use something other then "pal". Anyway, a jet trooper is a clone specifically trained in aerial tactics and the use of a jetpack to fight or perform other missions. Jetpacks are also available to other troopers for assignments requiring them, but simply using a jetpack does not immediately mean said trooper is expressly a "clone jet trooper". --Shadowxander 03:13, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- If the "Twilight Disaster" episode is real then its pretty safe to say he's a Jet Trooper since he would have only appeared with a Jet Pack--Butters4115 03:24, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- Not necessarily. Rex appears with a jetpack in the movie and Duel of the Droids but isn't a Jet Trooper. I can't see only two appearances as solid proof. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an anti-Jet Trooper person, I just don't think we should jump to any such conclusions without some kind of real proof. Compare it to real-world military terms. A soldier who has to jump out of a plane during one or two missions is not a paratrooper. Paratroopers are specifically trained as part of a unit who specialize in insertion by air. The same, I believe (as I can never be sure what'll be changed when it suits the writers), holds true for jet troopers. --Shadowxander 01:15, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Im just saying if we only see him when he's uses a Jetpack then it makes it look like he's a Jet Trooper--Butters4115 03:10, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- You might very well be right. I'm definitely not saying my opinion's the only right one and you've got a good point. If he only ever uses a jetpack on screen and there's no word from a higher source, I'm all for him being put down as a jet trooper. Just like I said above though, I don't want to jump to a pre-emtive conclusion. I say we wait and see where they take the character. --Shadowxander 01:42, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well, if he wears a jetpack in every appearance, then he has to be a jet trooper. --ARC commander3 14:35, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Canon?
The majority of this article now comes from the Clone Wars cell phone game. While well-written and interesting, I was under the impression that cell phone games like this are considered non-canon. Should this stay? --Shadowxander 05:10, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- AFAIK, a source (game, book, comic, etc.) is considered non-canon if it contradict other sources. And while this game has some odd plot points, they can be explained, at least for me. But I think we should ask Leland Chee about the canonical status of such games, in order to clear that. QuiGonJinnBe mindful of the Living Force...

- Sounds good to me, I'll take your word for it QuiGonJinn. Like I said, the article sounds good except really for the parts about Denal's rank. In Duel of the Droids, Denal's a sergeant and it seems to me that his rapid promotions in the game are merely for gameplay reasons and shouldn't be taken seriously. I suggest we remove the small bits about his rank unless a higher source can give a more definitive answer, but spare the rest of the article which seems very plausible. --Shadowxander 06:17, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with you about his rank in the game. But is he really called a sergeant in Duel of the Droids? I don't remember it. And in episode guide on Starwars.com he is called just "Trooper Denal". Of course he is higher than a mere trooper, but he could as well be a lieutenant. I am going to remove information regarding his rank, unless it's stated exactly. QuiGonJinnBe mindful of the Living Force...

- Good call. As far as the sergeant part goes, I'm pretty sure he's the sergeant of the squad that goes in and Rex is just there because he's Anakin's right-hand-man. I can't say for certain if it's in the episode or some kind of supplemental material, but I'm pretty sure he is a sergeant. --Shadowxander 03:02, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Wanted to add that while my computer is sub-par to say the least and keeps me from getting around StarWars.com without more hassle then I'm willing to deal with, I did a Google and Yahoo search for "Denal" and every relevant result referenced him being a sergeant. Just wanted to give the heads up. --Shadowxander 01:05, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

- I searched too, and all I could find were several fan-paintings and copies of Duel of the Droids summary.
According to Wookieepedia canon policy, only SW.com and sites affilated with LucasArts can be considered canon. Other sites shouldn't be considered such, unless they provide a valid reference. And SW.com calls him just "trooper". Since "trooper" doesn't necessary mean rank, I say we leave this issue ambiguous, leave a note in Bts, and wait until an official word. QuiGonJinnBe mindful of the Living Force...

Hot-Wire.
Hey, In Duel of Droids do you think he Hot-Wired him and Rex into the reactor room? Commander
I don't know about Denal being a commander. He served under Rex and the ranks in the wireless game are probably a gameplay device. I think we shouldn't mention his rank until it is confirmed by an official source.--Butters4115 13:52, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

A Clone Paratrooper?
Could denal have been a clone paratrooper since he used his jetpack (in all missions) to fall behind enemy lines, example the battle of christophsis he jumped of a building and used his jetpack to stop collision with the ground and attacked the droids from behind. Thats what it says clone paratroopers do.--ARC commander4 18:12, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Is that really Denal?
I noticed that denal's voice sounded a little ... Mechanic and deeper after he and that other clone cornered bane, and that in the Comercial for season two, a clone wearing armor that looked very similar to denal apparently abandoned a post...and clones tend not to be deserters.Besides, if bane really died, woldn't he have had a more ... exciting death than being seen shot off a platform from a distance. I think Bane killed denal and took his armor. Just speculation, mind you.--Turbogruntman117 13:33, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

Apparence in 2008's movie
In The Clone Wars movie (2008), onboard the Acclamator's hangar over Teth when Ahsoka talks about how she saved Anakin on Christophsis, there is a Clone Trooper without helmet but his arms wear the same marking that Denal armor have. It's the Clone who says: "I heard you were surrounded by droids. How did you get the shield down?" It could be Denal? I can add a screenshot if necessary. 88.120.49.44 20:36, December 31, 2016 (UTC).
