The TR-286 transport[1] was a type of automated transport used in the galaxy during the Imperial Era. One TR-286, transport eight, was present on Daiyu and was used to ferry Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Princess Leia Organa to the mining planet Mapuzo.[2] Many TR-286 transports were used on Epikonia to transport data-discs containing droid code updates to the surrounding sector.[3]
Behind the scenes
The TR-286 transport was first pictured in the official trailer for the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series, which was released on May 4, 2022.[4] It first appeared in the second episode of the series,[2] which was released on May 26, 2022.[5]
In the series' script, the ship was described as an automated transport, so propmaster Brad Elliott decided it was illogical to have a launch key designed for humans. The team decided to use a rigged scomp link computer interface device that had its own circuit board to simulate what an astromech droid would use to start the transport's launch sequence and program the route.[6]
