The title of supreme commander was used by the New Republic Defense Force during the Galactic Civil War. Shortly prior to a battle at Chadawa, New Republic General Hera Syndulla and Captain Nath Tensent spoke about plans after the war. While Syndulla encouraged Tensent to look into New Republic Intelligence, Tensent asked if Syndulla was interested in becoming supreme commander, to which she declined.[1]

Behind the scenes

Supreme commander was first mentioned in the 2021 canon novel Victory's Price: An Alphabet Squadron Novel, which was authored by Alexander Freed.[1]
