"Totally mega cool!"
―Sun King[1]

The Sun King was a powerful entity who, along with his siblings, controlled the seasons of the Forest Moon of Endor using the season scepter. His sisters were the Flower Queen and the Leaf Queen, and his brother was the Snow King. In 3 ABY, the Snow King entered into an affair with Odra, Duchess of Sleet, and had the scepter stolen from the Sun King. The Snow King placed a large portion of the forest moon under perpetual winter.

To avert the crisis, the Sun King and his sisters enlisted the help of the Ewoks of Bright Tree Village. Thanks to the efforts of Wicket Wystri Warrick and his friends, Odra was defeated, the scepter was returned, and the natural seasons were restored.

Biography

The Odra crisis

"Okay, like, there I was, just hangin' out with some of the dudes […] We're like sittin' there just diggin' the sunshine… like how great it was to be out there baking, y'know? When, like, all of a sudden, ZINGO! Instant deep freeze! 'Whoa, dudes! Oh no! Hey!' The Iceheads were like, gone. History. And it's been snowing ever since!"

The Sun King was, with his siblings, initially a prominent figure on the Forest Moon of Endor. At some stage during or before the Imperial era, the Sun King and his siblings came into possession of the season scepter, a Force-imbued relic that allowed the user to control the moon's seasons.[2] The device was also a potent weapon. The Snow King set up residence in a palace in the lands near the Ewoks' Bright Tree Village. It was not a substantial structure, but it featured a large pool.[1]

In 3 ABY,[3] the Snow King was seduced by Odra, the Duchess of Sleet. After entering into a tumultuous affair with the Duchess, the Snow King's heart was frozen by Odra, and under her influence, he sent his Iceheads to the Sun King's palace to steal the season scepter. The Sun King, who was hanging out with a group of furry so-called "dudes," did not initially notice the theft, and when he did, his cocktail was frozen by the infiltrators. Frightened, he hid under his deck chair, so the Iceheads were able to escape with minimal fuss. Soon after, the scepter caused all of Endor to fall under a deep freeze.[1]

The Leaf Queen contacted the Ewok shaman Logray of Bright Tree Village for help. However, the elderly Ewok was absent, and the communiqué was received by young Ewok Wicket Wystri Warrick. Warrick was unable to locate Logray, so he, accompanied by his friends Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka, Teebo, and Latara, flew to the Sun King's palace by way of flying leaf. However, Kintaka was apprehended by the Iceheads en route.[1]

The remaining three Ewoks arrived at the palace, where the Leaf Queen introduced herself and her siblings and explained the dilemma, with the Sun King recounting how the scepter had been lost in the first place. While the Leaf Queen continued to try and contact Logray, the Ewoks went to the Snow Palace to rescue Kintaka without telling the Leaf Queen their plans. They were able to infiltrate the palace, and although they were discovered by the Duchess, they ultimately defeated and shrunk Odra, thawed the Snow King back to his original state, and freed Kintaka.[1]

The Sun King, his sisters, Logray, and Ewok Chief Chirpa arrived after the battle, and the Sun King took back the scepter, complimenting the Ewoks on their actions. The Snow King returned Endor's weather to its natural state.[1] Years later, Professor Mankuskett, Chair of Metagrowth and Polymorphism at the University of Sanbra, described in a 12 ABY paper that magic on Endor had turned "local kingpins into weather-controlling warlocks."[2]

Personality and traits

"Bummer!"
―Sun King[1]

The Sun King was an extremely laid-back entity, lazing on the Endor beaches with his "dudes," a word for which he had a fondness. He was an antithesis of his sister, the Flower Queen, who often fussed about affairs of state and her appearance, while he could not care less. He had brownish-yellow hair and beige skin and eyes.[1]

Powers and abilities

The Sun King was able to use the powerful, Force-imbued artifact known as the season scepter.[1][2] His use of the scepter was powerful enough to change the climate of the moon, but his power was effectively nonexistent without it.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Sun King first appeared in "The Season Scepter,"[1] the thirteenth episode of the second season of the animated television series Ewoks, which premiered on November 1, 1986.[4]
