A scepter was a staff wielded by many beings as symbol of wealth, control, or power.
History
The Scepter of Ragnos was a powerful dark side artifact used by the deceased Sith Lord Marka Ragnos, and later by the Disciples of Ragnos. The Tammuz-an royal scepter was a symbol that the wielder was the rightful ruler of Tammuz-an. The Ewoks of Endor believed a staff known as the season scepter could control the seasons of their forest moon. The Supreme Overlord of the Yuuzhan Vong race was granted a Scepter of Power, an amphistaff specially bioengineered for that leader. Similarly, a Scepter of Entreaty was worn by anyone who wished to make a plea before the Supreme Overlord.
Though not formally called a scepter, the Speaker's staff was a form of scepter utilized by the Vice Chair of the Republic Senate. It demonstrated the authority the wielder held over senate debates.
