Stygeon Prime, also known simply as Stygeon, was a mountainous, snowy planet located in the Stygeon system of the Outer Rim Territories' Nuiri sector. The world's blizzard conditions made it the perfect location for a prison, as prisoners attempting escape would not survive outside the prison walls unless they could use a local tibidee to fly them to safety.

Description

Stygeon Prime, otherwise known as Stygeon, was a mountainous and snow-covered planet[7] located in the Stygeon system[3] of the Outer Rim Territories'[1] Nuiri sector.[2] The planet was 9,100 kilometers in diameter,[6] and held a Type I atmosphere, with a mixture of oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen,[5] as well as a thin[6] and cold climate.[7] In orbit of a single star[5] and orbited by two moons,[6] Stygeon was almost completely devoid of native life,[5] except for the large tibidee creatures that called it home.[7] Thanks to its conditions the world was an ideal location for a prison as escapees would not usually survive outside the prison walls.[8]

History

After her capture[11] in around 66 BBY,[12] the notorious bounty hunter and assassin Shenda Mol was put "on ice" at Stygeon Prime.[11] During the Clone Wars, the Sith Lords Darth Tyranus and Darth Sidious imprisoned Sidious's former apprentice Maul in the Spire, a Confederate prison on Stygeon Prime. Maul was later broken out by Mandalorian forces that were part of his Shadow Collective.[10] After the Clone Wars, the planet was occupied by the Galactic Empire.[9] The Empire and its Inquisitorius used the Spire and imprisoned and later executed the Jedi Master Luminara Unduli there, while her remains were kept in her former cell in order to lure out any survivors of Order 66.[3] In 5 BBY,[13] the rebellious crew of the Ghost learned of Unduli and attempted to save her before only nearly escaping the the Grand Inquisitor.[3]
