Strega were a type of harrier bird with blunt beaks that were roughly the size of dogs. They were capable of being powerful hunters and could be trained when motivated properly.[1] By 5 ABY,[2] the Imperial Grand Moff Lozen Tolruck had several trained strega, which he kept in iron kennels.[1]
That year,[2] after Tolruck had captured the New Republic operative Jom Barell, he held the man in one of the cages he used for his strega. When the man's colleague—the former loyalty officer Sinjir Rath Velus—came to rescue him, disguised as an Imperial officer, the Grand Moff brought Barell out in the strega kennel he was being held in. As Velus noticed his teammate's injuries, he also reflected on the attributes of the birds that Tolruck owned and kept in enclosures.[1]
