The Lugubraa evolved in the Stratos Distribution.

The Stratos Distribution was an expansive corridor of dust and ice asteroids[2] located in the Unknown Regions.[1] It featured forests of crystalline cometary fronds as well as asteroids rich with minerals and was a unique astrophysical environment. The region's name was coined by[2] the Unknown Regions'[3] Tchuukthai species.[4]

The Stratos Distribution was home to a number of deep-space lifeforms. Those included the predators known as lightning-jacks, the membranous stillsails that measured more than one hundred thousand kilometers across, and the sentient, omnivorous Lugubraa. The latter shared their evolutionary history with wormlike chewers, which were still carving warrens in mineral-saturated rock in the Stratos Distribution after the Lugubraa had expanded throughout the Unknown Regions and had come to prefer life in planetary atmospheres.[2]

History

At one point, the Croke species of the Unknown Regions, facing the catastrophic consequences of utilizing Lugubraa during a civil war, commissioned the cloners of the planet Kamino to create a genetically altered variant of the Lugubraa[2] known as the blind berserkers[5] in order to also use them in their conflict.[2] By at least several centuries prior to the reign of the Galactic Empire, the blind berserkers were associated with the Stratos Distribution.[6]

Behind the scenes

The Stratos Distribution was introduced in the 2010 sourcebook The Unknown Regions, published by Wizards of the Coast for use with the Star Wars Roleplaying Game.[2]
