A spike-sparrow was a type of sparrow that could be found on[1] the Outer Rim[2] world Elphrona during the High Republic Era.[1] By 232 BBY,[3] a spike-sparrow killed all but one member of a charhound pack on Elphrona. The survivor—a female puppy named Ember—then fought the spike-sparrow, ultimately crawling away from the fight.[1] Around 228 BBY,[4] Ember mentally recalled her fight with the spike-sparrow after it had killed her pack when she reflected on her life while on[1] the Wild Space[5] planet Sophros.[1]
Behind the scenes
A spike-sparrow was mentioned in the 2025 novel The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi, written by Charles Soule as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[6]

- ↑ The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi establishes the Bad Hurt Time took place before Ember came to be owned by Bell Zettifar. As Zettifar owns Ember during the events of The High Republic: Light of the Jedi—which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the events of to 232 BBY—the Bad Hurt Time must have occurred by that year.
- ↑ Chapters 24–37 of The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi take place shortly after the Battle of Eriadu, which takes place in 228 BBY per the reasoning here.
