The Soun system was a star system in the Expansion Region, near the Unknown Regions.[1] It contained the planet Soun IV.[2]

Behind the scenes

The StarWars.com Online Companion to The Essential Atlas placed the Soun system in the Mondress sector,[1] however, this was contradicted by the maps of both the Essential Atlas Extra: Expansion Region, a 2012 feature of the Online Companion,[4] and the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare, both of which placed the system in the Freestanding subsectors area of the Expansion Region, outside the Mondress sector.[1][3] Accordingly, Jason Fry, author of The Essential Atlas and its Online Companion, later moved the Soun system from the Mondress sector to the Freestanding subsectors in the system appendix of the 2025 Canon Star Systems of the Galaxy.[5] This article assumes the latter placement of the Soun system is correct.
