- "Kriffin' son of a murglak broke my kriffin' nose."
- ―Khedryn Faal to himself, following an encounter with Kell Douro
"Son of a murglak" was a disparaging phrase used throughout the galaxy, serving both as an exclamation and an insult.
History
- "You are one stupid son of a murglak."
- ―Vilmarh Grahrk to Holmar Grahrk
Old Republic
When bounty hunter Holmar Grahrk joined forces with his cousin Vilmarh Grahrk to collect the bounty on Jedi Knight Quinlan Vos, Vilmarh scolded him, calling him "one stupid son of a murglak" for talking to him openly. He explained that when people saw two Devaronians together, they would rightly suspect they were plotting something.[2]
Senate Guard Sagoro Autem exclaimed, "Ah, son of a murglak!" upon being assigned to a murder investigation and realizing that the victim was Senator Jheramahd Greyshade.[3]
New Republic
When Junker captain Khedryn Faal encountered the assassin Kell Douro, Duoro ended up breaking Khedryn's nose and right wrist. Following the encounter, Faal grumbled to himself that the "kriffin' son of a murglak broke my kriffin' nose."[1]
New Sith Order
While apprehending Naxy Screeger for a bounty, the bounty hunter Cade Skywalker angrily threw Screeger across the room. Screeger's body ended up crashing into Skywalker's partner, Jariah Syn, who exclaimed, "son of a murglak!"[4]
When Syn learned that Skywalker used to be a Jedi, Skywalker accused him of intending to shoot him in the back as soon as he wasn't looking, to claim the bounty on his head. Furious, Syn shot back, "No, you son of a murglak! I'll shoot you right in your face!"[5]
While being rescued from the Sith temple, Skywalker leaped out of the window and landed inside the waiting Mynock, where Syn caught him and exclaimed, "son of a murglak!" once again.[6]
When Skywalker went to the Hidden Temple, he unknowingly had a group of Imperial Knights trailing him, prompting him to shout "son of a murglak!" when he spotted them.[7]
During a sandstorm on Tatooine, Gunn Yage had no choice but to team up with Skywalker to make it through. The two began to fight when Yage discovered that Skywalker had a spare rebreather with him the entire time. Enraged, Yage yelled, "You stinking son of a murglak!" and accused him of planning to let her die. When Skywalker led them to the Lars homestead to take shelter from the storm, Yage, frustrated, called him a "strekkin' son of a murglak…!"[8]
Behind the scenes
"Son of a murglak" is similar to the real-world vulgar slang phrase "son of a bitch,"[9] which also exists in Legends continuity.[10] Similar phrases from Legends include "son-of-a-kath-hound,"[11] "son of a monkey-lizard,"[12] "son of a bantha,"[13] "son-of-a-mynock,"[14] "son of a rancor"[15] and "son of a space slug."[16]
