Snap-crows were a type of bird that lived on the Outer Rim planet Valo. The crows could squawk to make high-pitched noises when disturbed. While on Valo[1] in 229 BBY,[2] Jedi Padawan Ram Jomaram climbed the damaged exterior of the Valo Temple and accidentally put his hand on a nestled snap-crow, thinking the spot was a sturdy stone inlay. The small snap-crow pecked at Jomaram's hand and squawked indignantly, causing the Padawan to almost topple backward. After the bird voiced a few more high-pitched threats toward Jomaram, it flew away, leaving him to recollect himself.[1]
Behind the scenes
A snap-crow appeared in Escape from Valo, a 2024 junior novel written by Daniel José Older and Alyssa Wong as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[3]
