"I use it for sleep."
"It works for a while, but the dreams come back worse when you stop. Be careful."
―Caleen and Rael, on the former's substance abuse[2]

Sleeping drops[3] were a type of addictive[1] sedative drug[4] that could be taken to induce sleep. It was available in the form of a blue liquid that could be ingested orally with a tool. In 3 BBY,[5] the rebel Bix Caleen used the drops while hiding at the Axis network safehouse on[1] the planet[6] Coruscant[1] to cope with the trauma of torture she had endured at the hands of Imperial Doctor Gorst.[3] When the spymaster Luthen Rael visited her and learned that she had been using the drops, he advised Caleen to be careful with its usage, as nightmares would worsen after ceasing intake.[2]

Behind the scenes

"She's broken, she feels defeated, and that's sort of where she goes into substance [abuse] and tries to numb herself."
―Actor Adria Arjona, discussing Caleen's use of sleeping drops[3]

Sleeping drops were featured in "Ever Been to Ghorman?," and "I Have Friends Everywhere," the fourth and fifth episodes of the second season of the live-action Disney+ series Star Wars: Andor,[1][2] both released on April 29, 2025.[7] The substance was first identified by name in an article posted on StarWars.com on June 11, 2025, which was written by Ethan Sacks.[3]

Actor Adria Arjona, who played Bix Caleen, saw the character's use of sleeping drops as a way to numb herself from the sense of defeat she felt after being tortured. Arjona speculated that, without it, Caleen might have been driven more vengeful and homicidal, eventually leading her back to the same broken place she was while hiding in the safehouse.[3]
