A sled was a personal transport used to move an individual or object down a hill or mountain. A sled required the individual to use their own strength to push the sled in order to make it move.[2] The scavenger Rey created a sandboard which was a type of sled to help her descend quickly down the dunes of Jakku when she was scavenging the ruins of the Starship Graveyard.[1] New Republic Senator, Ransolm Casterfo used a hoversled in his failed attempt to "rescue" Senator Leia Organa during a sting operation.[3]
Behind the scenes
The sled first appeared as a sandboard in the 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens which was co-written and directed by J.J. Abrams.[1] In Star Wars Legends, sleds were first mentioned in the 2015 sourcebook Strongholds of Resistance and also appeared in the non-canon novel Jedi Academy: Return of the Padawan.
