Skoydon was a school of martial arts that Jedi Master Indara studied while traveling as a Jedi Wayseeker. She earned two Skoydon markings during separate stints of Wayseeking, one when she was twenty-eight around 158 BBY and one between the ages of forty and forty-three between around 146 BBY and 143 BBY.
Description
Skoydon was a school of martial arts in which practitioners could earn Skoydon markings, small black dots marked on the wearer's left temple.[1]
History
Indara earned her first Skoydon marking at age twenty-eight.
During the High Republic Era, the Jedi Master Indara studied Skoydon intensively while traveling widely as a Jedi Wayseeker to learn several esoteric and exotic martial arts from a variety of masters. She earned her first Skoydon marking at age twenty-eight[1] around 158 BBY,[2] then ceased her period of Wayseeking and returned to the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant to begin training the Padawan Torbin.[1]
At age forty,[1] around 146 BBY,[2] Indara began a second stint of Wayseeking and earned a second Skoydon marking before returning to the Jedi temple again at age forty-three[1] in around 143 BBY.[2] Indara's study of martial arts enriched her understanding of her own connection to the Force and at some point prior to her death at age 54 in 132 BBY, she recorded summaries of experiences in a Jedi holocron titled the Indara Lessons, which was stored in the Jedi Archives in the temple on Coruscant and frequently checked out by Padawans seeking to expand their defensive skills.[1]
Behind the scenes
Skoydon was mentioned in the 2025 reference book Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.[1]
