For other uses, see Sig.

Sig was a form of notoriously inaccurate blaster gas that produced armor-piercing shots.[1] Pressurized sig was also often used in plasma grenades.[2] Due to its armor puncturing abilities, sig was almost banned and became favored by criminals several centuries before the outbreak of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems. As a result, the Bureau of Sig, Spice and Slavery was formed by the Republic in order to combat organized crime.[1]

Behind the scenes

Sig was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, sig was introduced in Galaxy Guide 2: Yavin and Bespin, a 1989 supplement to West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[3]
