The Sienar Advanced Projects Laboratory (or APL for short) was a secret starfighter design and testing facility of Sienar Fleet Systems. It was located on Lothal, whose relative obscurity and remoteness provided protection from spies. The APL's first prototype, the TIE/ad v1, was unveiled at the Capital City Empire Day parade in 5 BBY.^[1]
