- "The Vushans have asked her to share the shun-rai—the funeral meal. To remember the dead, the Kages eat their loved one's favorite food, and set a place for their spirit to join in."

The shun-rai, translated to funeral meal in Basic, was a funerary ritual of the near-human Kage species. To honor the dead, Kages ate their loved one's favorite food and welcomed their spirit to join them.[1]
After the Kage Warrior Sadori Vushan, a member of the partisan rebel cell known as the Dreamers, perished during a mission to the world Anukara in[1] 0 ABY,[2] his parents Ru and Halia Vushan held a shun-rai for him at the Dreamers' encampment on the planet Jeosyn. The family prepared food that was as close as they could to Sadori's favorite and invited Seyn Marana, a fellow Dreamer who Sadori had grown fond of before his passing, to share in the meal, unaware that Marana was an undercover Imperial agent. Marana was honored to accept, and as her secret accomplice Iden Versio watched her follow the Vushan's, the Dreamers' leader, Lux Bonteri, described the concept of the shun-rai to Versio.[1]
