A shield booster was a starship system that increased the density of a deflector shield's ray patterns by increasing the effectiveness of a shield to scatter energy based attacks.[1] In 3 ABY,[2] shield boosters were sold by merchants working for the Miyuki Trade League for 2250 credits.[1]
In 3 ABY,[2] the scoundrel Kay Vess purchased a shield booster from a Miyuki Trade League merchant for the Trailblazer, her EML-850 light freighter.[1]
Behind the scenes
Shield boosters first appeared in the canon continuity in the "A Pirate's Fortune" expansion for the Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws,[1] which was released on May 15, 2025.[3] In the expansion, players could purchase the booster as an upgrade to their ship to increase the capacity and recovery of their ship's shields.[1]
Shield boosters were originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity in the 2000 educational video game, Star Wars Math: Jabba's Game Galaxy published by Lucas Learning.[4]
