Senate arcade building[3] was an arcade located in the Imperial Plaza on Coruscant.[1] It was a predominantly white, sculptural structure defined by smooth curves and sharply cantilevered segments. Its design included an elevated promenade—a raised, linear walkway that follows the building's contours.[4] Additionally, the shaded gaps between the bases of its buttresses functioned as designated parking areas for senatorial limousines.[5]
Behind the scenes
The real-life building used as the in-universe senate arcade building.
The senate arcade building first appeared in "Ever Been to Ghorman?," the fourth episode of the second season of Disney+ series Star Wars: Andor. The scenes involving the Imperial Plaza were shot in Valencia, Spain at the City of Arts and Sciences complex. Production designer Luke Hull felt that the architecture gave an "upper-Coruscant" look.[6] ILM visual effects supervisor Mohen Leo overlaid the shooting location from Valencia into the layout of the Senate District from the prequels so that the senate arcade building and the wider Imperial Plaza would physically fit into what was previously established.[7]
