The Senate Budgetary Committee was a committee made up of senators from the Galactic Republic's Galactic Senate, which was based in the Senate Building on the planet Coruscant. It was responsible for authorizing the distribution of Senate funds to various organizations both within the Senate's organizational structure, such as other committees, and without. The Senate Budgetary Committee was so permanent in its nature that it verged on being a ministry in its own right.[1] Budgetary and financial matters of the wider Republic were handled by the Finance Committee.[2]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, the Senate Budgetary Committee was mentioned in "Coruscant," an entry in De Agostini's Star Wars Encyclopedia series[1] that was released on February 9, 2021.[3] The committee originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in The Star Wars Sourcebook, a 1987 supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game written by Bill Slavicsek and Curtis Smith and published by West End Games.[4]
