- "Where do I know the name Selaggis from?"
"Another Zsinj strike zone. One of the first I looked at after I assumed command of this task force. One of the moons of Selaggis Six was colonized. I guess Zsinj decided to make a lesson of someone colonizing on his border without his permission. Iron Fist wiped out the whole colony. I think it would be very appropriate if he were wiped out in the same system." - ―Wedge Antilles and Han Solo
Selaggis VI, or Selaggis Six, commonly known as Selaggis, was a gas giant located in the Quelii sector of the Outer Rim Territories.
Description
- "Selaggis Six is the perfect place for Zsinj to make a stand. He can use the terrain to his advantage. An asteroid ring to hide in, a planetary atmosphere he might even be able to bring Iron Fist into for cover."
- ―Han Solo, to Onoma
Selaggis VI was a gas giant located within the Selaggis system[3] of the Quelii sector,[1] a part of the New Territories portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] It lay on the hyperlane known as the Braxant Run, which connected it to the Bandomeer and Vahaba systems.[2]
Selaggis VI was one of the seven worlds that orbited the yellow star Selaggis. The planet was orbited by several moons, including Selcaron, and was also circled by a heavy debris ring thought to have been another moon at one time.[3]
Selaggis VI was a beautiful yellow-orange gas giant with an atmosphere characterized by constant storm activity. The storms unceasingly changed the planet's patterns of swirls and lines of color, so that each new day offered variations in the worldscape, making it an ever-changing work of art for the colonists on Selcaron.[3]
History
- "Zsinj is trapped at Selaggis."
- ―Han Solo
Selaggis VI was the site of the Battle of Selaggis between Warlord Zsinj and General Han Solo in 7 ABY.[3]
Behind the scenes
- "You saw what the Iron Fist did on Selaggis. It turned the whole colony into rubble."
- ―Han Solo
Selaggis in Star Wars: Rebellion
Selaggis was introduced in the 1994 novel The Courtship of Princess Leia, written by Dave Wolverton, which mentioned it as the location of a colony that was obliterated by Warlord Zsinj's Super Star Destroyer Iron Fist.[4]
Selaggis then appeared in the 1998 PC video game Star Wars: Rebellion, which described it as a planet with a "favorable climate that has attracted colonists."[5]
The 1999 novel X-Wing: Solo Command, written by Aaron Allston, later identified the planet as the gas giant Selaggis Six, and changed the location of the colony to one of its moons, Selcaron.[3]
The 2008 reference book The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia finally identified the planet as Selaggis VI.[6]
