The Second Isobian Revolution occurred[3] by 19 BBY[1] during the reign of the Galactic Republic on the[3] Inner Rim[4] world[3] Isobi.[2] It was led by the Republic political figure Kehal Kehouris, who aimed to overthrow the noble families of his homeworld. As a result, Kehouris spent the rest of his life in an oubliette, where he scratched treatises into its walls, and he was regarded with disfavor in parts of the galaxy. During her youth, the Chandrilan Mon Mothma was enraptured by Kehouris' ardent and violent anti-royalism.[3]
In 19 BBY,[1] after the Republic was reorganized into the Galactic Empire, Mothma, by then a senator, was detained and interrogated by Imperial security officers on the planet Coruscant. While detained, Mothma reflected on several Republic political figures she believed were wrongly imprisoned, including Kehouris, and thought of the Second Isobian Revolution.[3]
Behind the scenes
The Second Isobian Revolution was mentioned in the 2025 novel Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear, written by Alexander Freed as the first installment of the Star Wars: Reign of the Empire trilogy.[3]

Star Wars: Edge of the Abyss on Penguin Books' official United Kingdom website (backup link) establishes the events of Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear take place thirteen years before the events of Reign of the Empire: Edge of the Abyss.
Rebecca Roanhorse (@rebeccaroanhorse) on Instagram (post): "Title and updated release date of my upcoming STAR WARS novel announced at SDCC. THE EDGE OF THE ABYSS takes place a year before Andor S1." (backup link) states that Edge of the Abyss takes place a year before the events of Andor Season 1, which are set in 5 BBY per the reasoning here. Therefore, the events of Edge of the Abyss must be set in 6 BBY, and the events of The Mask of Fear in 19 BBY. As The Mask of Fear establishes the Second Isobian Revolution occurred during the reign of the Galactic Republic, which Timelines establishes ended in 19 BBY, it must have occurred by that year.

(In reply to: "Jason, is Gendrah-Narvin a city country, star, or planet?")" (backup link) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), and his Atlas co-author Daniel Wallace, stated their intention to create the approximate locations for numerous events based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for in relation to the Isobi system.
Star Systems of the Galaxy on StarWars.com (current version) (backup link) (previous version) establishes it lists star systems under the name of their most prominent planets. This article therefore considers the world on which the Second Isobian Revolution occurred to be named in accordance with the Isobi system.
