Kehal Kehouris was a Galactic Republic political figure who led the Second Isobian Revolution to overthrow the noble families of his homeworld[3] Isobi.[1] He then spent the remainder of his life in an oubliette, where he scratched treatises into its walls. During her youth, the Chandrilan Mon Mothma was enraptured by Kehouris' ardent and violent anti-royalism.[3]
In 19 BBY,[2] at some point after Kehouris had died, and in the first year after the Republic was reorganized into the Galactic Empire, Mothma, by then a senator, was detained and interrogated by Imperial security officers on the planet Coruscant. During her detainment, Mothma thought about several Republic political figures whom she considered to have been wrongly imprisoned, including Kehouris, mentally noting that parts of the galaxy still disfavored him and reflecting that she was not similar to the figures she had thought about.[3]
Behind the scenes
Kehal Kehouris was mentioned in Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear, a 2025 novel written by Alexander Freed as the first installment of the Star Wars: Reign of the Empire trilogy.[3]

- ↑ 1.0 1.1 The Essential Atlas and Galactic Cartography: Official Discussion (post by jasonfry) on the Jedi Council Forums' Literature board (October 12, 2008): "I'd call Gendrah-Narvin and Erhynradd star systems -- I err on the side of star systems unless there's evidence to the contrary. (In reply to: "Jason, is Gendrah-Narvin a city country, star, or planet?")" (backup link) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), and his Atlas co-author Daniel Wallace, stated their intention to create the approximate locations for numerous events based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for the Second Isobian Revolution in relation to the Isobi system.
Star Systems of the Galaxy on StarWars.com (current version) (backup link) (previous version) establishes it lists star systems under the name of their most prominent planets. This article therefore considers the world on which the Second Isobian Revolution occurred—which Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear established to also be Kehal Kehouris' homeworld—to be named in accordance with the Isobi system.

Star Wars: Edge of the Abyss on Penguin Books' official United Kingdom website (backup link) establishes the events of Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear take place thirteen years before the events of Reign of the Empire: Edge of the Abyss.
Rebecca Roanhorse (@rebeccaroanhorse) on Instagram (post): "Title and updated release date of my upcoming STAR WARS novel announced at SDCC. THE EDGE OF THE ABYSS takes place a year before Andor S1." (backup link) states that Edge of the Abyss takes place a year before the events of Andor Season 1, which are set in 5 BBY per the reasoning here. Therefore, the events of Edge of the Abyss must be set in 6 BBY, and the events of The Mask of Fear in 19 BBY. As the The Mask of Fear establishes Kehal Kehouris had died before its events, he must have passed away by that year.
