The Scarabi were a group of mercenaries who operated during the Imperial Era. A group of Scarabi, led by Hachi,[1] kidnapped Rebel Alliance leader Mon Mothma while on the world Uveron,[2] intending to hand her over to other parties such as the Galactic Empire unless the Rebellion paid a large ransom.[1] Lando Calrissian, who was on trial with Mothma attending remotely as one of the magistrates,[2] recognized Hachi by her voice. Having brokered deals with the Scarabi in the past, Calrissian knew the locations of several Scarabi safe houses, informing the rebel Chewbacca of the kidnappers' identities.[1] As Calrissian's lawyer Salli Georgio would have known about his connection to the Scarabi, he came to suspect she was the real puppetmaster behind the kidnapping in order to help his case.[3]
