Sannen was a Jedi Master of the Jedi Order[2] who served as a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, a pan-galactic conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[3] In 21 BBY,[1] Sannen commanded Republic forces alongside[3] his[2] fellow Jedi, Colonel Tyneir Renz, during a battle[3] on the moon[4] Parein II 4. Their forces were crushed in a charge led by the Separatist General Grievous astride his Tsmeu-6 personal wheel bike.[3] Sannen encountered Grievous for the first time and[2] bravely[5] attempted to subdue him for the Republic.[2] Before he could duel Grievous,[6] Sannen was jabbed in the throat[2] with an electrostaff by one of Grievous's IG-100 MagnaGuards, which killed him.[7] Sannen's death indicated to many that the MagnaGuards were capable of defeating Jedi.[8]

Behind the scenes

General Sannen was first mentioned in "The Story of General Grievous: Lord of War," an article written by Abel G. Peña and published online on Hyperspace: The Official Star Wars Fan Club on February 15, 2006.[3] The character was originally created for the reference book The New Essential Guide to Droids,[9] written by Daniel Wallace, which was not published until June 27, 2006.[10]
