"So, General Grievous, we meet at last. In the name of the Republic, I—urrrk!"
―Jedi Master Sannen, during the battle[4]

The Battle of Parein II 4 occurred in 21 BBY, during the Clone Wars between the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Galactic Republic. Taking place on the moon Parein II 4, the chaotic battle pitted the Separatist Droid Army under the command of the cyborg General Grievous against Republic forces led by Jedi Sannen and Tyneir Renz. The conflict saw the military debut of Grievous's Tsmeu-6 personal wheel bike and his IG-100 MagnaGuards. It resulted in the utter destruction of the Republic forces; Sannen was killed by a MagnaGuard and the Jedi Valin Draco was left for dead.

Prelude

The Kaleesh cyborg General Grievous served as Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies for the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars, a conflict between the Separatists and the Galactic Republic. The general desired to lead his army, including its IG-227 Hailfire-class droid tanks, in a full-frontal assault. To do so, Grievous modified a Tsmeu-6 personal wheel bike into an armored combat vehicle and added a Golan Arms nd-53 double laser cannon.[1]

In 21 BBY,[2] a year into the Clone Wars, Grievous led the Separatist Droid Army against Republic forces commanded by[1] the Jedi Master[4] General Sannen[1] and Jedi Knight[7] Colonel Tyneir Renz in battle on Parein II 4,[1] the fourth moon of the planet Parein II[5] in the Sarin sector.[8] In the first battlefield use of Grievous's wheel bike,[6] the general led a charge that crushed the Republic opposition,[1] Sannen confronted Grievous for the first time and[4] bravely[9] attempted to subdue him, but was interrupted by[4] being fatally jabbed in the throat by one of Grievous's IG-100 MagnaGuards, who also made their debut in the conflict.[3] The Republic forces were utterly destroyed[6] and the Jedi Valin Draco was injured during the chaotic battle.[5]

Aftermath

"During the Clone Wars, the brave men and women I commanded called me the ‘Valiant Dragon’ as we fought in epic conflicts for the corrupt Republic. But after I was left for dead on the battlefield of Parein II 4, flattering titles lost their meaning for me."
―Valin Draco[5]

Left for dead and stranded, Draco was stalked by a nighthunter, a creature that used the Force to seek its prey. In a vicious duel that nearly killed both participants, the creature bit off Draco's thumb and clamped its jaws around his throat, but the Jedi was able to ultimately able to wound and subdue it. He subsequently nursed it to health and formed a bond, naming it Crant. Draco also rejected the Jedi afterward and was believed to be dead.[5] Renz also survived the battle.[7]

Grievous was pleased with the results of the use of his wheel bike and had several others fashioned for his MagnaGuards. He continued to use his vehicle until it was destroyed in the Battle of Utapau[1] in 19 BBY,[10] in which Grievous also perished.[1] Following the end of the Clone Wars, the destruction of the Jedi Order and the transformation of the Republic into the Galactic Empire, Draco reemerged as a member of the Inquisitorius, an order of Force-sensitives that hunted Jedi for the Empire. He recalled his fate at the Battle of Parein II 4 to a group of heroes on the planet Almas[5] in 17 BBY.[11]
