Sanandrassa was the Queen of Naboo who preceded Padmé Amidala on the throne. Unlike her successor, she favored a policy of isolationism. After she retired and was succeeded by Amidala, Sanandrassa planned to open a school for weavers.[2]
Behind the scenes
Sanandrassa first appeared in 2020 novel Queen's Peril, written by E. K. Johnston. Queen's Peril establishes that Sanandrassa had served as Padmé Amidala's predecessor as Monarch of Naboo.[2] However, the Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded had previously named King Ars Veruna as Amidala's predecessor.[3] Star Wars: Character Encyclopedia, Updated and Expanded Edition removes the mention of Veruna, instead just mentioning Amidala's predecessor,[4] which would be an indirect mention of Sanandrassa.

Notes and references
- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates the Padmé Amidala's born to 46 BBY. The novel Queen's Peril describes Amidala as the youngest queen of Naboo for some time after her election at the age of fourteen. Therefore, Sanandrassa, who was the immediate predecessor to Amidala, must have been born at least fifteen years before she was elected queen. Timelines also dates Sanandrassa's reign to from 34 BBY to 32 BBY. Therefore, Sanandrassa must have been born by 49 BBY.
