- "Hiya. Okinaa-san has looked good since you came, Boy."
- ―A Sullustan villager, to R5-D56
Okinaa, who was referred to as "Okinaa-san"
"San" was a suffix in the Empire's tongue that could be used after the names of individuals. In a conversation with astromech droid R5-D56, a Sullustan individual at one point referred to Zabrak Sith Master Okinaa as "Okinaa-san."[1]
Behind the scenes
The expression "san" appeared in the non-canon one-shot comic Visions – Takashi Okazaki 1, written and illustrated by Takashi Okazaki and published by Marvel Comics[1] on March 20, 2024.[2] In the Japanese language, san (さん) is an honorific suffix and politeness marker similar to "Mr." or "Mrs." in English.[3]
