The Salient system was a star system on the edge of the Corporate Sector of the galaxy. Its red dwarf held several planets in orbit, three of which—Salient I, Salient II, and Epiphany—were in its habitable zone.[2] It was situated along the Hydian Way.[3]
During the Clone Wars, the Salient system was neutral but leaned towards the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Corporations like Zerpen Industries took the opportunity to supply weapons to both the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy. After the war's end, the newly formed Galactic Empire moved to assert its control over Salient. The ensuing conflict drew mercenaries from across the galaxy to fight the Empire, including Onderonian freedom fighter Saw Gerrera. However, the Empire ultimately defeated the rebels and took control of the system.[2]
Behind the scenes
The reference book Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition erroneously places the Salient system in the Western Reaches, contradicting its stated location in the Corporate Sector.[4] The galactic map of Star Wars: Timelines, on the other hand, places Salient near the edge of (though not inside) the Corporate Sector. This may suggest that the Empire separated Salient from the rest of the Corporate Sector after the events of Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel.[3][2]
