The Sakiyans were a humanoid sentient species with bulbous, hairless heads and sharply tapered ears.[2] Sakiyans hailed from the Hutt Space planet Saki, and as such were often enslaved by the Hutts. Thanks to their keen senses and quick reflexes, Sakiyans were skilled hunters.[5] Sakiyan skin tones ranged from gleaming black[3] to jade[4] and plum.[1]
One notable Sakiyan was Sixtat, a notorious bounty hunter known as the "Outlands Butcher."[1]
Behind the scenes
Sakiyans, albeit unidentifed, first appeared in[3] the 1977[8] theatrical film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.[3] The species was later identified as "Sakiyan" via Sixtat[9] and the Turtle Tanker's entries in the Encyclopedia on StarWars.com simultaneously.[10]
In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Sakiyans also made their debut in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.[3] However, the species was first named in the Decipher collectible card game Star Wars Customizable Card Game via the "Djas Puhr" card, available in[11] the 1995[12] Premiere Limited set.[11]
