Saddlebulls were a non-sentient species domesticated by the Chiss. They were featured in the expression "When you see the saddlebull is about to throw you, jump off."[1] In 18 BBY,[2] Senior Captain Xodlak'in'daro, core name "Lakinda," had been censured by the Xodlak family for her role in the Hoxim incident, where the senior captain had led the Xodlak to take claim the planet Hoxim. The Chiss believed the planet to be rich with nyix metal, which was false.[1]
Lakinda was soon offered to join the ruling Irizi family, which reminded her of the expression—the "saddlebull" in her instance being the Xodlak family, who were already furious with her and contemplating removing her position in the family.[1]
Behind the scenes
The saddlebull was mentioned in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good, the second volume of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
