A Sacrifice of Three,^[2] also known as the Ascendant ritual,^[3] was a ritual that, as mentioned in the Ascendant's Mantra, required the blood of three individuals to summon the Spark Eternal,^[1] a piece of technology created by the Ascendant that granted Sith-like powers.^[4] Centuries after the Spark was sealed away by the Ascendant member Miril during the Sith's slaughter of the Ascendant, the archaeologist Kho Phon Farrus sought the Spark Eternal^[5] for the criminal syndicate Crimson Dawn.^[6] During Farrus' search for the Eternal, they encountered the rogue archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra and the smuggler Sana Starros, who were also looking for Ascendant technology for Lady Domina Tagge. Farrus told Aphra they had been looking for a Sacrifice of Three, which Farrus thought Aphra could be useful in.^[2] Eventually the trio made their ways to the Unyielding Heart, located underneath the University of Bar'leth on^[7] the planet^[8] Bar'leth, and where the Spark had been sealed. Aphra, Farrus, and Sava Iglan'tine Nos carried out the Sacrifice of Three to summon the Spark. Aphra then took it for herself and was killed, before she was resurrected^[1] and possessed by the Spark Eternal.^[4]
